I pledge to always have empathy with those struggling with mental illness. Not because I am a professional. Not because I should or I have to. But because I live with the struggles too. I pledge to be the compassionate heart inside prisons to help bring awareness. I stand up for those like me & remember when I was too ashamed to speak up.
I pledge to speak up, make a difference & share my story. I pledge to be strong even when I feel weak.
I pledge to be an active listener and friend to those in need, to be their soft place to fall. My heart is wide open.
I pledge to stop any discrimination in my classroom. I will use examples or topics that are brought up by my students as a teaching opportunity to bring awareness to mental health and illness. I will provide a stigma free zone in my classroom where students feel safe.
I pledge to be a voice for mental illness and provide support for those in need. I will also reach out when I am the one who needs help.
Since discovering, Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Northridge, my life has changed dramatically for the better. I pledge to continue to love and support the members of my community as I have been lovingly supported during times of crisis and life in general.

To live my life as an example to everyone out there to show the world that YES, I have a Mental Illness but NO, it does not define who I CHOOSE to be!!
I believe all minds matter. I believe in helping and supporting all people diagnosed with mental health disorders accept it and show the world how awesome they are in spite of their illness. I believe in speaking up and out about mental health because I understand the struggles of living each day with a mental illness. I am one of the millions diagnosed with a mental illness, and I want to prove to the world I am awesome!
I pledge to try to make a difference in my community. I will strive to support, love and be kind to every person regardless of their differences to me and others. I will take the time to listen before I speak. I will stop using works that could potentially harm others and be courteous to all I run across in life.

I pledge to service others and be the voice for those that struggle, be the arm for those that need to be helped, and the eyes for those that cannot see the light.
