Sticky Note Wall Activity


Each Mind Matters: California’s Mental Health Movement is excited to present a fun and meaningful way to encourage everyone to show their support through creative self-expression. This activity will ask you to write inspiring messages of support that, when assembled together, create the shape of Each Mind Matters’ lime green mental health awareness ribbon.

Step 1: Make Your Ribbon!

Find a wall space that is at most five feet wide by five feet high. A painted wall is the best surface. Your sticky notes may not adhere well to surfaces like whiteboards or brick walls. If you cannot find the wall space, you can use a large sheet of paper taped to the wall.

Using the gridline templates for either the small ribbon or the larger ribbon, place the sticky notes onto the wall, arranged in the shape of a lime green ribbon. Click here to download templates.

Remember that 1 square on the template is equal to 1 post-it note and a half square is equal to half a post-it note, cut diagonally.

Pro-Tip! When you pull your sticky notes off the pad, pull as close to the top as possible. This will keep your notes from pulling away from the wall and will help your ribbon remain flat against the wall.

To make a half post-it note, use scissors to cut across a post-it note diagonally. Remember not to discard the side with the sticky strip!

Don’t worry if one your sticky notes fall off! To help keep your ribbon together, you can use little pieces of tape to tape down the corners of your sticky notes.

Step 2: Respond to the Prompts


Respond to one of the prompts below by writing or drawing on one of the lime green sticky notes. Read and be inspired by what others have written!

  • Leave a positive message to brighten someone’s day.
  • What’s the best thing someone could say to you when you need support?
  • Write your pledge to stop the stigma surrounding mental health.
  • Why is it important to speak openly about our mental health?

Step 3: Share your creations!


To share your creation and inspire others to reduce stigma and support the mental health movement, snap a photo and upload it to social media. Don’t forget to tag @EachMindMatters on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and use #EachMindMatters!

How to Remove

To remove, just pull off the sticky notes from the wall. If you can, recycle your sticky notes!
