Join #MillionsLikeMe on World Mental Health Day
Tomorrow, Oct. 10, 2015, is World Mental Health Day, and you can do your part to raise awareness by speaking openly and honestly about mental health with friends and loved ones.
Each year, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) presents a theme for Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year’s is Dignity in Mental Health. This means that no matter what struggles you or someone you know is facing, there is nothing to be ashamed of, and we all need to work together to ensure that this is the reality for all.
How will you show the world that you believe there is Dignity in Mental Health? Here are a few ways to get you started:
Have a Conversation
Connect with friends and family to start a conversation about mental health. Each Mind Matters recently partnered with Text, Talk, Act on Oct. 6 to start a nationwide conversation, but you don’t need to wait for a sponsored event to get your friends talking. Visit our blog to learn more about how to get started, then text “start” to 89800 when you are ready to go.
Stay Connected on Social Media
- Retweet, share or tag a friend in our posts.
- Let your friends know that you are not ashamed to talk about mental health by tagging @EachMindMatters in your posts and using the hashtag #MillionsLikeMe.
- Share the “We are the movement for mental health” PSA that we created with philosophy in May for Mental Health Matters Month.
Wear Lime Green
The vibrant lime green color has emerged as the national color of mental health awareness. You can find items at the Each Mind Matters store to show your support. In observance of Mental Health Awareness Week, the store bundled the most popular items at a discounted rate. Check out the special offer available through Oct. 10.
