Each Mind Matters School Mini-Grants Are Here!

Mental Health Awareness Event-in-a-Box

We are excited to offer an opportunity for schools to build California’s Mental Health Movement by hosting a mental health awareness event during Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Student-run clubs from middle schools, high schools and college campuses in California may apply. Application deadline is March 1, 2019.

This year we have designed the Mental Health Awareness Event-in-a-Box! Grantees will be asked to choose ONE of the event box options from below and host the activity event at their school during the month of May. Here are the choices:

  • Host a Mental Health Movie Event. From a list provided, choose one feature length film and one Directing Change short PSA film. A guided group discussion about the films and mental health will follow. Each Mind Matters resources and goodies for giveaways will be provided.
  • Host a Self-Care Scavenger Hunt. A great opportunity for interaction and movement where students search around campus to find locations to support self-care. List of clues to search for and prizes for winners will be included.

Whichever event-in-a-box is chosen, supplies and step-by-step instructions needed will be provided to make the activity a success, including materials for a resource table, prizes for winners, Each Mind Matters swag to give away, and funds to pay for food or extra supplies.
