May is Mental Health Matters Month! Here’s How To Get Involved…


As we celebrate Mental Health Matters Month, we are focusing on how expressing ourselves in different ways can raise awareness about mental health, break down barriers between people, build our own wellness and strengthen our communities. Although most of us cannot celebrate together in person this year, Each Mind Matters has activities and resources we can all use to spread mental health awareness all month long. Even while practicing physical distancing, there’s a lot we can do to take care of ourselves and stay connected with others.

This year, Each Mind Matters is encouraging everyone to ‘Express Yourself’! In our 2020 activation kit, you’ll find several tools to inspire your creativity and express your support for mental health awareness all month long. If you’re wondering where to get started, here are some ideas on how you can get into the spirit of Mental Health Matters Month and spread the word.

Sticky Note Wall Activity

This May, Each Mind Matters is presenting a fun and meaningful way to show your support through creative self-expression. This activity will ask you to write inspiring messages of support, when assembled together, create the shape of Each Mind Matters’ lime green mental health awareness ribbon. You can create your sticky note wall art in your home. Leave positive messages for your family members, roommates or yourself!

Coloring Pages

Activities as simple as doodling and coloring have been shown to activate the reward pathways in our brain and elevate our mood and make us feel better. Coloring has other benefits like reducing anxiety and increasing mindfulness. Download our Each Mind Matters coloring pages in English or Spanish.

Social Media

The easiest way to spread the word is by posting about Mental Health Matters Month on social media!

First, change your Facebook or Twitter profile photo to display the new Each Mind Matters custom frame.

  • Facebook: Go to your page and click on your profile picture. Select ‘Add a Frame’ and search for Each Mind Matters. Choose the first result and adjust to your preference.
  • Twitter: Go to this link and directly add a twibbon to your profile picture by clicking the ‘Add to Twitter’ button.

In addition, we have a variety of post and profile images based on our theme of creative self-expression that you can download and post to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We also have a Social Media Guide provides you with prewritten posts as well as other fun activities.




Each Mind Matters is now on TikTok! Follow us @EachMindMatters and participate in our #ManySidesToMyStory challenge. Create a TikTok that expresses the real you and shares a side of you that people may not see. Visit the ManySidesToMyStory website to learn more and checkout the hashtag on TikTok to see other people participating!
