Reclaim Mental Health Conference at UCI

In partnership with the UCI Counseling Center and UCI Medical Humanities Initiative, Associated Students UCI (ASUCI) proudly presents our 2017 Reclaim Mental Health Conference. This conference aims to:

1) explore the onset, symptoms, and treatment of mental illness,
2) illuminate the disproportionate risk factors for mental illness among marginalized communities, and
3) examine mental health through a sociopolitical lens.

The UCI Reclaim Mental Health Conference was founded during the 2014-2015 academic year with the goal of achieving these three goals. For 2017 we aim to build on the strengths and achievement we have accomplished thus far. Through the use of oral history and presentations grounded in research and empiricism, this conference will not only offer participants an immediate space to heal and learn, but also equip them with the knowledge, agency, and reverence for civic engagement necessary to devise large-scale solutions, develop and test cutting edge hypotheses, and drive progress outside our conference walls, allowing the ideas exchanged during this event to reverberate long after it ends.
