“Journey of Hope: Real Life Stories of Living with Mental Health Challenges Portrayed Through Art” exhibit
In recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct. 7-13), Sacramento County’s “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project and the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center present Journey of Hope, a collaborative art exhibit that pairs local artists and writers to share stories about mental health, hope and recovery. Each piece began with a story written by a Sacramento County resident living with mental illness, which was then given to a local artist to be used as inspiration for an original art piece.
The public reception will be held on Saturday, October 6, from 3-7 p.m. and the exhibit will be on display at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center, free and open to the public, October 6-20.
