Inaugural Mental Health Symposium: Creating a Community of Caring and Diversity
This inaugural symposium theme, “Creating a Community of Caring and Diversity”, highlights the stories told from the research and work surrounding mental health issues among different cultures within our campus. In this theme, we want to emphasize the importance of raising awareness about mental wellness to destigmatize the conversations about mental health issue. In “Creating a Community of Caring and Diversity”, we will highlight the significance of community building and community organizing in order to create a safe space for community members coming from different cultures to share their stories of mental health issues and wellness. In doing this, students will have the tools to empower their families, peers, and communities to address mental health.
