Each Mind Matters School Mini-Grants Are Here!
Each Mind Matters invites you to apply for the 2020 School Mini-Grant Program. This is an opportunity for schools to build California’s Mental Health Movement by hosting a mental health awareness event at your school campus during Mental Health Awareness Month in May. This grant opportunity is open to student-run clubs from elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and college campuses in California.
This year we have enhanced the Mental Health Awareness Event-in-a-Box! Depending on grade level, applicants are asked to choose ONE of the event options from below and host the activity event at the school during the month of May. Here are the choices, according to grade level:
For Grades K-3 and 2-5:
- Host a Mental Health Book Discussion. From a list provided, each book listed offers a suggested developmental window to help you select age-appropriate materials. Content can be successfully aged up or down by the concepts emphasized and level of discussion encouraged. Each Mind Matters resources and goodies for give-aways included!
For Grades 4-8:
- Host a Mental Health Film Discussion. Choose either a feature length film, from the list provided, or a series of Directing Change short PSA films. A guided group discussion to follow about the film(s) and topics around mental health. Each Mind Matters resources and goodies for give-aways included!
For Grades 9-12 and Colleges:
- Host a Mental Health Movie Event. From a list provided, choose one feature length lm and one Directing Change short PSA film. A guided group discussion to follow about the films and topics around mental health. Each Mind Matters resources and goodies for give-aways included!
- Host a Self-Care Scavenger Hunt. A great opportunity for interaction and movement where students search around campus to find locations to support self-care. List of clues to search for and prizes for winners are included!
Whichever event-in-a-box you choose, we will provide you with supplies and step-by-step instructions needed to make the activity a success, including materials for a resource table, prizes for winners, Each Mind Matters swag to give away, and funds to pay for food or extra supplies.
